Here's what teachers are saying
about Darius Goes West ...
"What an amazing story of joy,
love, perseverance, and brotherhood. The movie made me cry, laugh,
and smile. Information about DMD and the need for handicapped accessible
buildings are beautifully laced into this moving film. After leaving
the theater, I felt compelled to share the experience with my biology
students, family, and friends. I am so excited for the DGW curriculum
to arrive."
- Tracy Lawrence, Home Street Middle
School,
Bishop, CA
"What I saw was not only an inspiring, heart warming story,
but something that was much, much more. The film is about Darius
of course, a kid with a fatal disease and his travels across country,
except it is not. It is also about those kids that I have been worried
about who hold our future in their hands. It is a story about human
kindness, love and dedication to a cause. It was probably about
a good five minutes into the show before I started to tear up. The
tears were not all sad ones, because at times I laughed so hard
it hurt. Boy was I glad that the lights were out."
- Roy Carroll, Clarke Middle School,
Athens, GA

"Darius
Goes West is a heart felt story about a small group of young men
who help each other understand the world. The boys develop a close
friendship and set out to conquer a deadly disease through a road
trip across the United States. This moving film should be shared
with students and adults alike to help teach the power of friendship,
determination, and service to others. It shows us so clearly that
the contributions of an individual can impact others in tremendous
ways. A must-see film that I will share with all of my students"
- Joel Palombo, High School Art
Teacher, American Embassy School, New Delhi, India
